Is anyone else starting to feel super festive yet? Traditionally I’ve always been a bit of a bah-humbug but since I had kids I’ve started to feel festive earlier and earlier each year, and though our tree isn’t up just yet it will be this weekend!
The kids have started rehearsing for their Christmas show/nativity play and in fact Arlo has already performed his. He was a very cute King! Athena’s show isn’t for another week and then both kids have a festive disco in the last week of term, as well as class parties, jumper days and after school club celebrations! It’s such a hectic half term , this one!
We started off our festive season with a visit to Squires Garden Centre in Washington, as they’d invited us to the opening night of Circus with Santa. With shows daily until the new year it is a great way to get into the festive spirit, see some great circus acts and maybe even Father Christmas! The kids absolutely loved the show, especially the act with the two young brothers – they were amazed! Father Christmas spent time with all the kids after the show and gave them a little present too!
Of course whilst you’re at the garden centre you should visit all their trees, lights and decorations too, it’s a Christmas tradition for us! You can see all the Squires Circus locations here, along with show dates – they are running till the New Year.
The next festive thing we got up to was a super fun and very entertaining evening watching Worthings Panto Cinderella at The Pavilion theatre on the seafront. Every year they have us in stitches and this year was no different. A mixture of dancing, songs, audience participation and a bit of theatre magic! The cast this year included a Strictly Star, an ex boy band member, a Childrens TV presenter and more… and our favourite Mark Jones as Buttons. We loved him in last years panto and it was great to see him again – his section with some audience members was a right hoot!
Definitely worth a trip, and fun for the whole family too! There are 2 shows a day (three on Saturday 21st and Christmas Eve) and running till January the 5th you can book tickets and find out show times here.
The stage set was beautiful, and Athena wanted to be one of the dancing girls, who are all local and very professional! Look at that puppet horse too, so cool!
Anyway, we have a quiet weekend planned with card writing, paper chain making and maybe a walk on Sunday. We’re off to see Santa the weekend after, but the kids don’t know yet!
Happy hectic-festive season!
