It’s a new dawn, It’s a new day, It’s a new blog

So here I am on WordPress. This is my 500th Blog post and the first one since moving from blogger to wordpress. I’ve been blogging since 2011 and what started off as a fashion and beauty blog with a few recipes flung in has now turned into a ‘bit of everything’ blog, but that’s just fine with me!

I don’t even have a definite reason for the decision to move platforms, but partly it was because I was getting a bit dis-engaged with my blog and had lost my mojo a little. I am hoping that by getting to know a new, self hosted blogging interface my spark will be reignited and burn with the fire of a thousand flames for ever more… we shall see anyway!

After spending an age deciding on a colour scheme, then fiddling around in photoshop to make the background, header and blog buttons I decided to start the transfer… It took a couple of weeks from start to finish, but would actually have only taken 2 days had I not changed my mind about the first two hosting companies I chose, then installed to the wrong directory and not realising till after I had cancelled the redirect from my blogger blog. I had spent the last three evenings uploading friends blog-buttons, changing all the categories and tags etc and generally tidying it up.  On friday the 13th when my shiny new blog didn’t appear I was told by the support people that it wasn’t possible to move it to the right directory but that ‘it won’t take long to install it’! No it won’t, but getting it exactly how I had it before would take ages! I was also busy preparing all the food for Athena’s birthday picnic, and baking and decorating a cake!

So, there are still a few tweaks to be made but I’m working on it, and actually it isn’t the end of the world if things aren’t perfect. Also it isn’t the end of the world if I don’t blog for a few days, and I think this needs to become my new mantra, especially when I’m back at work in a couple of weeks! I think I was putting too much pressure on myself, and what is actually a hobby was becoming a chore!

The title of this post is from our first dance song at our wedding (the Muse version) and I AM feeling good! Here’s to a new start, and another 500 (or more!) blog posts!
