5 Fun Ways to Celebrate Yourself Every Day

Celebrations are fun. Every year, we look forward to the various birthdays, holiday traditions, anniversaries, and other meaningful moments in our lives. However, many people simply aren’t celebrating as often as they should be.   When you stop to think about it, you realise that virtually every day of your life is cause for celebration. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to buy yourself a gift to wake up to and eat cake every day. However, you might find that you’re much happier if you take more time out to actually celebrate the little things.

Here are some fun ways to celebrate yourself as often as you like.

Schedule “Me” Days

How often do you spend your days focusing on other people? If you’re a professional, then you’re probably constantly thinking about your boss, clients, and coworkers. If you’re a parent, then you’ve got your kids to think about. We’re always considering the needs of the people around us, though we often fail to consider what we need to make ourselves happy.

If you can’t remember the last time you focused on yourself for a while, then it might be time to schedule a “Me” day. Pick a day once every month (at least) and dedicate it to doing exactly what you want. This is a day when you can ignore the phone, forget about your standard chores, and just do what makes you happy.

Recognise the Small Stuff

Another bad habit that a lot of us find ourselves getting into in this fast-paced world, is an inability to celebrate the little things that we accomplish. We think that we only deserve to celebrate when we pull off something massive, like getting a new job or a promotion. However, you deserve a pat on the back for other things too.

For example if you completed all of your tasks at work on time for the entire week, then celebrate with a luxurious bubble bath on Friday night. If you’ve successfully finished cleaning the house on Saturday, treat yourself to a day of indulgence on Sunday. Treating yourself for small accomplishments doesn’t have to be expensive.

Treat Yourself

If you’re living on a budget, it’s tempting to make sure that you avoid any unnecessary spending as much as possible. For the most part, you will need to limit your little indulgences if you want to save some significant cash long-term. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t ever have a little extra fun. Sometimes we all deserve to treat ourselves.

The frequency with which you can spend money on the things that you want (rather than the things you need), will depend on you. Take a look at your existing budget and consider putting some extra cash away each month for a massive blow-out at the end of the year.

Learn How to Say No

One of the best things you can do when you’re looking for new ways to celebrate yourself, is figure out how to put your needs first from time to time. There’s nothing wrong with being a giving and generous person. The more you give to others, the more you make the world a better place. However, it’s important to remember that you have needs too.

There will be times when someone asks you for something that you can’t afford to give. It might be something that takes too much from you financially, or it could be something that asks you to sacrifice too much on an emotional or physical level. When this happens, don’t feel guilty for saying no.

Look After Yourself

Finally, sometimes celebrating yourself can be as simple as considering your needs and making sure that you get the care you deserve. Every day make sure that your dedicating enough time to the things that keep you happy and healthy. This means getting plenty of sleep every night, with a bedtime routine that helps you to relax when you need to. It also means treating yourself to plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in your meals, so you can avoid unnecessary sickness too.

Sometimes, looking after yourself also means investing in things that are going to make your life easier. If that new alarm clock will help you to accomplish more in the long-term, then you don’t need to feel bad about buying it. The same goes for investing in online courses to expand your education, or spending on a new car when you have the money.
