3 tips for less stressful school mornings

The beginning of the new school year always rolls round so quickly after a summer of great weather and beach holidays. I always feel like September is like a fake New Year… the kids are in new classes, new shoes and new routines. I am also trying to get into a proper routine after a summer of slotting in work here and there… Preparation is key for them and me! A healthy diet, positive reinforcement and our full support are a few ways to ease the change in routine for our kids – but I have an extra little help for someone to win at the end of this post but here are some tips to help get your kids settled into a new routine and make it easier for yourself too!3 tips to organise your school mornings

Do it the night before

Do what the night before? As much as possible! Get shoes ready, bottles filled and bags emptied of anything that doesn’t need to be in there. Leave them near the door with your coats. Making packed lunches the night before is a great way to dial down the morning stress too!

Get the kids on board

Get them on board and into a routine from the start – maybe make it a rule that they have to get dressed before they leave their room, or no TV until they have dressed and eaten. Make sure they know what time they need to have their shoes on and be out of the door and maybe reward them on days when they’re ready before you need to ask!

Let technology help

When chatting about this topic two friends of mine both praised using a shared calendar that the parents can access on their phones – make sure all school, medical and playdate events are in their asap and one quick check and everyone knows what’s happening when! Thanks Hannah & Amber!

So hopefully if you use those tips your mornings will be a lot easier and then it’s just the rest of the day to survive! I have a little giveaway to send out to one lucky winner, which will definitely help with organisation at school!  A full stationery set and pencil case with all the items your children would need to give them the best chance to excel in education.
